February and March events, Social Media, Editorial

Andy Woolgar

After a relatively slow start to 2016, due largely to the retail and restaurant world recovering from a busy and productive winter and holiday period, things are back underway and February business is picking up. Along with regular client orders we are securing some great new customers in some untapped areas for us, such as Raleigh-Durham (Uncorked Wine Bar) and Oak Ridge (Bistro 150).

More announcements to come as we branch off into new territories, but for an up-to-date list take a look under our ‘purchase’ heading on the website.

Starting out here in North Carolina it has always been my focus to make sure we keep you all informed with events such as tastings and wine dinners. I launched our first constant contact newsletter in January and just released our second. For a copy please send me your email address and I’ll forward it on to you.

Remaining events in February, and those so far scheduled and March:

Feb 20th  Salisbury Pride – tasting at Salisbury Wine Shop

Feb 24th  Rickety and J.De Telmont tasting at Bond St Wines, Charlotte

Feb 25th  South African talk, at UNCG

March 2  Tasting at Cork & Cow, Burlington

March 19th  Tasting at Brewers Kettle, High Point

March 24th  South African tasting and dinner at Cravin’ Wine, New Bern

And plenty more will follow. I will update this list via our Constant Contact newsletter and Facebook page.

Editorial:

Our South African wines continue to be well received by you, our consumers. Age range doesn’t seem to be a factor when it comes to liking our style and the appeal of our wines would seem to make even the least experienced palate happy. Our style of wine is restrained, old world, elegant and above all well balanced, and these are the keys to our success. Our wines not only have a great aroma but that taste carries over to the palate and all have a varietal correctness and balanced finish. I firmly believe that’s why Rickety Bridge is gaining in popularity here in the U.S.

As I tell many customers, I have been most largely surprised how well our Pinotage has sold as well as it has. When we brought in our first shipment back in April of 2015, we had only so many bottles available and it sold our so quickly. That was a great surprise but since then I have made sure we don’t run out again! Pinotage was not the only wine that eventually sold out, others being our Merlot, Foundation Stone red blend, Sauvignon Blanc, Brut Rose, and both of our flagship Cabernet Sauvignon’s, the Paulina’s Reserve and The Bridge.

On our next shipment which should be with us at the end of March we will have a couple of amazing new wines to introduce. I will go into more detail about these in my March offering here and on the newsletter. In the meantime thank you and hope to see you soon at an event!

All the best
